Virtigo is a family-owned South African business operating across materials, mining, transport and logistics, plant hire, screening, agriculture and earthworks.
Our roots in sand, stone, machinery and transport stretch back three generations, with the first Virtigo company established in 2007.
Today, we combine our own mining operation, material stock, heavy transport fleet, machinery and operational experience to give customers something increasingly valuable: real capability under one roof.

Virtigo has grown around the practical needs of the industries we work in.
A customer who needs material often needs transport. A transport project may require loading equipment. Earthworks need machines, operators and material. Mining and processing require screening, handling and logistics.
Instead of treating each of these as separate worlds, we’ve built capability across them.

Virtigo’s story didn’t begin when the company was registered in 2007.
Jannie Burger grew up around sand, stone, trucks and machinery through his father’s involvement in the industry. What started as part of everyday family life became decades of hands-on experience in transport and logistics and, eventually, the foundation on which Virtigo was built.

Virtigo was the brainchild of Jannie and Cheryl Burger.
In 2007, they registered the first Virtigo company, turning years of industry experience into a family business of their own.
From its early operations in Wellington and later Malmesbury, Virtigo continued to evolve as the work evolved. Transport led to new opportunities. Materials, machinery, mining and other operational capabilities followed.
Cheryl has since passed away, but her role in building Virtigo remains part of the business and the family behind it today.

LONG BEFORE IT BECAME OUR WORK.

The stockpiles were our playground long before they became part of our working lives.
Mardilise and Lejandi Burger grew up around the trucks, sand, stone and machinery that came with their father’s work. Photographs from the mid-1990s capture two sisters simply playing around the stockpiles, with no idea that decades later they would find themselves working in the same industries.
Today, the next generation brings its own experience and perspective to a business built on very familiar ground.
THE NEXT GENERATION.
With an Honours degree in Logistics and experience in South Africa’s diesel and transport industries, Lejandi Burger brings both formal expertise and practical industry knowledge to Virtigo.
Her understanding of transport extends beyond moving a load from A to B. Routes, equipment, fuel, turnaround times, operating costs and the realities of South African roads all form part of running an effective logistics operation.
Today, that experience forms part of the next generation taking Virtigo forward.

Today, Virtigo operates from Malmesbury with capability extending far beyond the office or yard.
We mine selected materials from our own Doornekraal operation. We hold material stock. We screen and process material. We operate heavy trucks and trailers. We run loaders, excavators and screening equipment. And we work across projects where more than one of those capabilities is often required.
That means when we say we can do something, there is usually a truck, a machine, a stockpile or a person behind it.
